Dawn Dishwashing Soap Saves Wildlife

bird1 Dawn Dishwashing Soap Saves WildlifeIn terms of environmental effects, one of the most deadly events is oil spills. Who can forget the images of hundreds of thousands of birds, fish, whales, seals and otters, dead, after the horrible Exxon Oil Spill in Prince William Sound, Alaska?

Thankfully, although over 250,000 animals were killed due to the carelessness of a major corporation, countless others were saved due to the hard work of the International Bird Rescue Research Center. The IBRRC took immediate action to save thousands of birds, with the help of Dawn. The IBRRC determined that Dawn Dishwashing Liquid effectively removes oil and grease from animals, while still being gentle enough to not harm their feathers or skin and since then has been used countless times in the wild to help save animals. Dawn has also been helping save wildlife by donating dish soap and contributing to help fund research and centers dedicated to saving wildlife.

If Dawn can remove crude oil from bird’s feathers, it can certainly remove the toughest lasagna grime from your plates, while still being gentle on your hands. Order today from CleaningProductsWorld.com

Why Clean Green?

yhst 42582711725914 2047 2485770 Why Clean Green? For consumers, the answer is easy. We need to protect ourselves and future generations.

For businesses, the answer is a bit more complicated. While demand for environmentally friendly products is growing, Clorox Bleach is still America’s choice to get your bathroom clean and your white’s whiter. So why should businesses and organizations adopt green cleaning initiatives and products?

1) Compliance. Many Government and Non-Government Organizations now require the purchase and use of products that have a reduces impact on the environment. States like Connecticut are trying to pass bills to mandate the usage of green cleaning products in schools.

2) Cost Control. Use of non-toxic cleaning products means your liability for illness or sickness is minimized.

3) Customer’s Perception. The public is increasingly supporting companies that are environmentally responsible.

4) Corporate Citizenship. Being environmentally conscious is the right thing to do- simple as that.

What businesses do you admire for going green? Are there any you wish would become more environmentally friendly?

Foam Soap: Less is More

At CleaningProductsWorld.com, we recommend using foam hand soaps over liquid. First of all, the amount of foam generated is over 20x the volume of actual soap, resulting in 50% savings over liquid and lotion soaps. Also, foam soap requires less water to lather compared to other soaps. Lastly, because foam soap spreads more easily and generates more surface area, it is a more effective soap, leaving hands cleaner.

Bulk Foam Soap offers even more advantages. Bulk soap is environmentally friendly because of it’s bag/box-less refillable bottle which keeps waste from landfills. The bottle is also recyclable and reusable, and the bulk packaging creates less waste. Most importantly though, buying in bulk can result in over 55% savings over traditional soap.

The Foam-eeze Bulk Foam Soap Dispenser has a sleek, modern design and accepts both bulk foam soap and bulk sanitizers. Also, the Foam-eeze system has an easy to use refillable bottle which can be removed for easy cleaning or refilling. We recommend filling with the Softsoap Sensorial Whipped French Vanilla Foam Hand Soap which cleans hands and leaves behind a delicious vanilla scent.

Save on Energy, Get Clothes Cleaner

627235 washing day Save on Energy, Get Clothes Cleaner

As springtime moves in, it’s time to start thinking on how you can trim down your energy bills. After all, it won’t be too far off until it’s time to turn on that air conditioner again. To save on energy bills and still get your clothes looking and feeling fantastic, start out in the laundry room by implementing smart washing and drying practices.

When you use hot water to wash your clothes, you’re actually using more energy than you think. Instead, wash your clothes in cold water to shave dollars of your energy bills and use a specially formulated cold water detergent to ensure that your laundry stays fresh, clean, and looking just like new. Tide Coldwater is a great option for families looking for a better way to save on energy.

Finally, to dry your items, you can trim off up to 80% of your normal dryer usage by drying your clothes for a few hours out on the line and then finishing them up in the dryer. This prevents your clothes from getting hard and stiff, leaving them oh-so-soft and comfy.

New Survey Shows More Home Cleaners

The recession has led many Americans to overlook hiring janitorial services or housekeepers and do the work themselves, according to a new survey from the Soap and Detergent Association.

The 2009 Spring Cleaning Survey, which involved 1,002 Americans of varied occupations and geographic locations, indicated that 60% are doing more cleaning themselves rather than hiring a service. In addition, more than four in 10 (44%) say they are buying less-expensive cleaning products; and one-third say they are buying fewer cleaning products. Other respondents say economic factors influenced them to make their own cleaning products at home (22%) or clean less frequently (17%).  876259 cleaning day 3 New Survey Shows More Home Cleaners

“Consumers can get more bang for their buck by using the right product for the right job and by using the right amount of the product,” Nancy Bock, the SDA’s vice president of education, said in a statement regarding the survey findings.

Consumers are also increasingly seeking sustainability-related benefits in their cleaning products. Nearly two-thirds (61%) said they are looking for those features in 2009 (61%), up from 38% who said the same in SDA’s 2008 cleaning survey.

So what does this mean for your spring cleaning routine? Be sure to check out the selection of Cleaning Products available at CleaningProductsWorld.com to fit your budget as well as your sustainability-related needs. Four Deodorizers We Love!

When it comes to keeping your home smelling fresh, you’d be surprised where odors lurk, not to mention, there are a few surprising and interesting approaches to getting them out. If you want to keep your home smelling fresh and clean, here are a few of our favorite deodorizers and deodorizing tips. Enjoy!

 Four Deodorizers We Love!

For the Bathroom and Kitchen

As a favorite of many, Oust Air Sanitizers are the perfect way to neutralize your stinky trash cans, toilets, or other areas of the kitchen and bathroom that seem to attract an unpleasant scent. Using a unique formula, Oust eliminates odor causing bacteria that leaves the air smelling clean and fresh. Don’t worry – Oust is also EPA registered and contains no CFCs, so your odor fighting secret doesn’t harm mother nature or your home.

For Clothes
For clothes that have been in storage for a long time or seem to have picked up a musty odor, you can head to your bar to pick up a great deodorizer. Vodka (straight, not flavored) is a powerful deodorizer and bacterial killing agent that doesn’t leave behind a scent. To deodorize, spritz garments with a small amount of vodka (spot-test first). Hang clothes to dry in a well-ventilated area.

For the Garbage Disposal
After frequent use, the garbage disposal can tend to pick up some nasty food particles that mature and cause a powerful stench. Give your disposal something to chew on by dropping a few orange rinds into the disposal then flipping the switch. This should deodorize and keep it smelling fresh for at least another week.

For your Carpets
Carpets can collect unpleasant odors, particularly in high-traffic areas and in spots where pets like to nap. Sprinkle some baking soda around your carpets and then vacuum up a few hours later. The baking soda works to neutralize the odor while leaving your carpet smelling fresh.

SC Johnson is Coming Clean with Product Info!

Additionally, SC Johnson is removing a controversial ingredient called phthalates from it’s cleaning products! scrubbing 150x150 SC Johnson is Coming Clean with Product Info!

This is a huge step towards eco-friendliness for the major corporation. Environmentalists have been asking for ingredient lists on labels for years, and SC Johnson’s announcement is seen as a huge victory.

In a statement to the press, SC Johnson’s Chairman and CEO Fisk Johnson said that his company and government regulators believe that phthalates are safe, but because of growing consumer concerns they will remove the chemicals from their products.”Listening and responding to consumers is S.C. Johnson’s top priority,” Johnson said in the statement. “Making information about the ingredients in our products readily accessible and easy to understand helps our consumers know they can continue to trust our products.”

This is not the first SC Johnson decision that supports health and the environment, in the 1970′s SC Johnson was one of the first companies to remove CFC’s, before they were banned by the government. So if you are looking for a company that has your safety at heart, look no further than SC Johnson. Don’t forget you can get all of their top products at CleaningProductsWorld.com!

What’s Under Your Sink?

Our third installment of What’s Under Your Sink features Nancy, an executive assistant and self described “clean and organization freak.” Here are a list of products she uses and loves.

1) Lysol Disinfecting Spray- I am very concerned about germs, especially in the bathroom and Lysol disinfects the best while still smelling great!

2) Ajax Scouring Cream- I use Ajax in my bathtub to get rid of mildew and mold- it keeps my tub looking clean and shiny, and works better than other tub cleaners.

3) Swiffer Duster and Sweeper- Swiffer is a great product. It combines a mop, vacuum and broom into one and does a great job picking up hair and dust. I never have to use furniture polish anymore either because the dusters leave my furniture so clean!

Thanks Nancy! What do you readers think of these products? Does anyone else use Swiffer? DOn’t forget you can get these all at CleaningProductsWorld.com.

Spring Cleaning For Your Kitchen

As spring finally approaches, the inevitable “spring cleaning” has to occur. But many households overlook the places that never get cleaned, focusing on a heavy duty scrubbing of the same old surfaces. Here are some great tips for doing a thorough spring cleaning of your kitchen.

1) Take everything out of your cabinets and clean them out with a disinfectant cleaner. Crumbs and spills can grow bacteria, attract mice, and start to smell.  Don’t forget to scrub the cabinet doors too.

2) Use a narrow vacuum attachment to reach between cabinets, under the dishwasher, and behind the fridge.

3)  Scrub out your microwave, oven and toaster- just because these surfaces don’t have germs because of the extreme temperatures doesn’t mean they should not be cleaned. Get rid of spills and dried food with a a disinfectant cleaner like Soft Scrub.

4)Pour a cup full of bleach down your drain to kill bacteria that can live down there where it is warm and damp.

5) Run any silverware holders through the dishwasher to get rid of germs and dried food particles.

These tips should help you get your kitchen thoroughly clean, not just surface clean. Does anyone else have any tips? Comment below!
