Looking to add a touch of elegance to your Christmas tree this year? Making soap flake snow for your tree is an easy, inexpensive and creative decoration that gives a unique look to the tree.
Follow this link for a complete recipe for making soap flake snow – this inexpensive, simple to make embellishment will spruce up any Christmas tree. All that you need is liquid starch, soap flakes, water, and a few drops of blue food coloring. Some people make shavings out of their own bar soap, but the easier way to go about it is to buy the soap flakes.
Simply mix 1/3rd cup of liquid starch into 1 cup of snow flakes, slowly add in 1 to two tablespoons of water while mixing until the consistency is thick, and add a touch of blue food coloring if desired.
I love seeing a touch of white on Christmas trees, but always hated the spray on stuff that comes in a can. Apparently this is an old trick to make your own artificial snow – but I had never heard of it before and chances are you might not have either. Happy Holidays, enjoy decorating!

I recently received an unsolicited email advertisement from a floor maintenance company that actually caught my eye. Typically, I glance over these without giving them a second thought, but with a tag line of “Would you be interested in learning more about a company that manufactures robots…”
I had to say – you sir, had me at robots.
This company, Intellibot, makes robotic floor cleaning machines that look very sleek. I can’t say how well the product works, but it gets an A for appearance. Also it has 14 sensors and a 360 degree camera that lets it see where it’s going, and will send out a report for someone to come move it along if it happens to get stuck. At least it is good to know the fellow who used to clean the floor won’t be out of a job, he’ll get to go give the machine a nudge if it jams up in a corner or it falls down the stairs.
Perhaps if I had a huge facility with big empty rooms I could find a use for this, but for a small office or regular sized house I’d still have to choose the old fashioned floor cleaning products. Besides, I’d probably end up being the guy that was playing with the big fancy machine and broke it.
